AskVault vs Intercom Fin — flat fee vs per-outcome
Intercom Fin and AskVault solve the same problem with opposite pricing models. Fin charges per outcome — $0.99 for a resolution, procedure handoff or disqualification, and $9.99 for a lead qualification — on top of Intercom seats starting at $29 per seat per month, so the bill scales with how well the agent works. AskVault charges one flat monthly fee from $39 with a hard-capped message allowance, so the bill is knowable in advance and cannot exceed the plan price. Fin is the better choice if you already run Intercom’s inbox, help centre and ticketing, because it inherits all of it. AskVault is the better choice if you want predictable cost, or you are not an Intercom customer and do not want to become one.
AskVault compared with Intercom Fin
All prices are month-to-month. Several vendors default their pricing page to annual billing, which shows a lower headline figure; where a vendor offers an annual discount it is noted in the cell.
Prices are listed in US dollars. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, which handles global tax and compliance. Prices exclude tax: any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you are is shown at checkout.

Where AskVault is the better choice
Cost predictability. A flat fee with a hard cap cannot produce a bill you did not plan for — which matters most exactly when the agent is working well and resolving more.
You do not have to buy a messaging platform to get an AI agent. Fin without Intercom still carries a 50-outcome monthly minimum.
Native channel coverage without an automation layer or an AskVault per-message surcharge: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, SMS and email. Meta and Twilio bill their message fees to you directly.
Answers show the pages or documents they were drawn from, and answers that look unsupported or low-confidence are flagged into a review queue for your team.
Where Intercom Fin is the better choice
If you already pay for Intercom, Fin sits on top of the inbox, help centre, ticketing and reporting you already run. Nothing on this page is worth unpicking that.
Intercom’s help desk is more mature than ours in workflow depth, reporting and enterprise administration. We are building toward it; we have not arrived.
Per-outcome pricing is genuinely fairer at low volume, and you pay nothing for conversations the agent fails to resolve. At 150 outcomes a month it is very hard to beat.
Fin publishes resolution benchmarks and has independent deployments at scale behind them. AskVault has no reference customers yet, and you should weigh that difference honestly.
Live chat, support email, in-app messages, banners and tooltips are included on every Intercom plan with no message cap.
Frequently asked questions
Does AskVault replace Intercom entirely?
Not for a team using Intercom’s full suite. AskVault has an inbox, assignment rules, macros and SLA handling, but Intercom’s help desk is deeper. If you use Intercom mainly for its AI agent, AskVault replaces that. If you use it for everything, it does not.
How does an AskVault message compare to a Fin outcome?
They are different units and cannot be converted reliably. An outcome is a resolution, a Procedure handoff or a disqualification, charged once per conversation; a message is one answer AskVault produced. A conversation usually takes several messages. Compare using your own average conversation length rather than treating the numbers as equivalent — anyone presenting a single multiplier here is overselling.
What happens when I hit my message allowance?
The allowance is capped rather than overaged, so you are never billed past your plan. You can add a top-up pack or upgrade. This is deliberate: a surprise bill is the failure mode we are designing against.
Is Fin more accurate than AskVault?
We have no basis to claim otherwise. Fin has published benchmarks and large independent deployments; AskVault does not yet. What we can say is that AskVault answers show the pages or documents they were drawn from, so you can audit them yourself rather than take a number on trust.
